Jitsi Meet

Jitsi Meet is an open-source video conferencing system that creates ad-hoc virtual meeting spaces called rooms in this text. A room exists only while participants are inside it: the first visitor creates the room automatically, and when the last participant leaves, the room is destroyed. (Save your chat if you want to keep it!) The name of the room (URL) is the only secret you need to know and share. No permanent account or scheduled infrastructure is required for basic use.

Compared with systems such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Meet, Jitsi Meet offers stronger transparency and privacy advantages because it is open source and can be self-hosted. Users can run their own server infrastructure, control data retention, and avoid vendor lock-in. The temporary room model also reduces persistent meeting artifacts.
